Hi

My Zanussi Washer Dryer (brought as it was a Which? Best Buy!) has packed up just 3 months outside of warranty (do the manufacturers push a button to destruct machines after that time?Mad) It is an electrical problem as there is nothing when I turn it on. Hubby has checked the fuse and electrical socket and they are fine. He is a PAT tester and it fails on the "leakage" - electric not water!

Does anyone know someone in the Lake area who will be fair and honest. I have tried ringing a couple of numbers in the Yellow Pages but one is trying to flog another warranty and the others weren't there and didn't bother to ring me back if I left a message. The best chap I found only covers Ryde so sadly he couldn't help.

Hopefully its not a major problem, its not overuse as there's only 2 of us and its just 15 months old and looks like new. The last Zanussi (washing machine) we had is still working aged 20 years at my parents on the mainland!

I'm not an expert, but the first thing to fire up on washing machines is the interlock switch which is on the door. If this goes wrong nothing else will work.

Get yourself the Haynes Washing Machine handbook. Fantastic publication has saved me a fortune in repairs. Being a PAT tester your husband should have no worries sorting out your machine with this book.

Thanks for that have found a very handy guy in Shanklin who has suggested that European Law says machines should be covered for 2 years rather than the one year manufacturers try to have us all believe. Am trying to claim back the cost of repair from Argos - so far looks promising!

Will definitely get the book though for future reference.

Regards
Jenny
