Hi all,
This is my first post on this forum.
I am 24 years old, and I currently work at London Heathrow Airport, but for a long time now I have had an ambition to be able to start-up my own airline, and I am considering the possibility of establishing a very small commercial airline service to/from the Isle of Wight in order to provide both residents and visitors with an easy and fast mode of transportation, and an alternative to having to use the ferry services.
I am already aware of the attempt that was made to fly between Sandown and London City back in 2006, but what I am initially proposing would be a shuttle service between Bembridge and Southampton, with the possibility of further routes being added if the demand can be proved.
Does anyone think that the island would benefit from having such a service at all?
Any opinions (good or bad) would be greatly appreciated.
If anyone is interested in helping me with this possible venture, please get into contact with me via PM.
Many thanks in advance. |

I worked for the guy who started up between Sandown and London and this only went pear shaped due to licensing hassles.
This guy is a self made, lost and got back again millionaire. If he thought a trip to and from Southampton was viable he would be doing it.
The London project was just a hobby for him that happened to make a little money for a while.
A few years ago someone was going to do the same at Bembridge, with the hope of making it into a smaller version of Southampton airport, again it never happened due to the amount of money involved. |
