Bit of a rarity seeing this sort of service advertised.
I did it for a while back in the days before PC's appeared in every household.
I had a dot matrix printer connected to an Acorn Electron computer and knocked out newsletters for my Mother's Playgroup, through doing that I picked up a few other regular typing jobs, but once the PC phenomenon started, everyone became word processor users and of course once ink jet printers, with their far superior document quality, became widely available work dried up completely.
With a bit of time, practice and by using templates, even the search and peck typist is able to make a decent job of producing their own documents.
Of course this market isn't completely gone, there's still the professionals who don't have enough work for a full time secretary, but also haven't the time to spend typing and so employ freelancers. |
