Well after a years absence from the island, I'm back once againfor a few days and have loved it so far (even the ferry crossing in the fog provided some photo opportunities).
After a RIB ride across the Solent this morning, we took a trip part way up the Medina where that smaller floating crane is seemingly working along with other equipment on pontoons. We didn't get close enough to ask but does anyone know what's happening up there? I see the old green derrick crane that I was interested in has also gone and the little slipway has been dug out again. Interesting times; I hope its making way for places that will keep jobs and trades alive.
I've also heard that pleasure flights have resumed from Sandown airport(in the last couple of months) due to the closure of Bembridge. Does anyone have any more details on that? I'm swinging by that way tomorrow so there's a chance I may pick up some information from the locals.
