moving from italy

Hi everyone! I'm from italy and I've got a new job in southampton near the town quay. I'm considering to move to the island with my family (my girlfriend and my 11 months daughter). Does the red funnel seasonal ticket cost 1920 for the residents too? Do the ferry go to the mainland with every weather condition? Is Cowes a good place to live with a family or you suggest to me a different solution? It is easy to find a rental property?
