I keep trying this forum and putting in comments but there never seem to be any responses. Where is everybody?

It is such a shame as I am sure that this site could be really good if only people would use it.

Will keep trying!

I'm here and it would be nice to see the forum do well, and not just with people predominantly looking for info about moving to the island. Looking forward to my move and I'm already looking at a couple of new hobbies I want to take up as a way to get out and meet people and where to register the dogs for dog training.

Or maybe we should just opt for arranging a get together of those who do post, it'd be an exclusive little meeting Laughing

'' Good day everybody''

A booming voice quietens the forum to a hushed murmer. The crowd turns to see its most revered member enter into the throng. Swaythed in a golden toga and accompanied by an entourage of bidding servants He stands embolden before them.

'' I have been considering the topic of this esteemed debate to some length, I put myself in trance through deep meditation for 3 days and nights....''

The speaker looks distantly into the infinite horizon of reverie, then raises his right arm aloft letting the toga fall delicately from his torso.

'' .....with the morning of the forth day came enlightenment but also exhaustion, though I stand before you now triumphant and invigorated by the knowledge I bring''

The congregation gather in silence, on tenterhooks.

'' The reason no one visits this forum....''

Unexpected to the crowd but not, apparently, its orator the rest of the toga falls away. Naked, pure and beautiful he takes a deep breath.

'' Is because no one bloody wants to!''

He came because he is a forum troll...

The link is self- explanatory...say no more.

Lets get back to some IOW stuff

Yes I am a troll by that definition but to give my point more relevance ill simply clarify it. This is an IOW forum dedicated to general chit chat. You are obviously all interested in issues which to relate to the IOW... or you wouldnt be here, but rather than discuss important issues regarding contemporary topics such as the worrying wind energy initiative, reduction in habitat due to overbuilding, the elevation in crime and the effectiveness of the police, photo ID's for island access, alarming loss of wildlife etc you discuss why people aren't discussing these things! and the few regular members put down and marginalize those few with strong opinions labelling them as conspiracy theorists, rumour mongerers and.... trolls!
An irreverent sense of humour is by far less painful, no?

You make some very valid points that are indeed worthy of discussion but perhaps it is the way you make them that incurs the slightly hostile response.

Your " irreverent sense of humour " does sometimes have a mocking feel to it. For example your comment in the Walking thread. I post a picture of a public footpath going through somebodys rear garden and I point out the waymarker. You then make what I would call a somewhat mocking and sarcastic comment when really there was no need for it.

Yes, maybe we should be discussing more important things on here and the use of wind turbines on the island is a good example. So, with that in mind I will start a thread on that subject.

If nothing else you have sparked off some activity on the forum which is a good thing but lets make sure its all for the right reasons.

I must admit I stumbled across the site by pure fluke, I'm sure people would be interested if they knew about it. Someone needs to get the word out.
