Not having children I cannot really recommend any particular school, but what I would say is that there are quite a number of schools being closed on the Island and a lot being merged together.

Think it would depend which part of the Island you were thinking of moving to.

I understand that Shalfleet School on West Wight (which is being merged with Yarmouth and (I believe) Brightstone schools) is a good school.

Thank you for your reply. We have been to Yarmouth and it is beautiful. Are there any other locations we could consider.

In July I will have lived on the Island for 4 years, all at Shalfleet, West Wight, which is very rural - church, pub and a village shop (that only opens in the mornings!) and buses that only run every two hours!, so really my knowledge of other areas is very limited.

However, having said that I do regularly drive round the Island and visit other places and my favourite places tend to be Godshill, Sandown, Shanklin, Freshwater, Totland, Cowes (not necessarily in that order!), but of course there are other areas (especially rural villages) which are equally as nice. I think it all depends really on what type of location you are looking for and what amenities you would be requiring.

Ryde of course is a very busy, bustle area and has good connections to the mainland.

There are also of course some fantastic beaches on the Island - Totland and Colwell Bay being two of the very best! Although having said that Sandown have had clean beach awards.

Hope this helps slightly but if you do need any other information about some of the areas I will try and help you if I am able.
