I'll be starting a new job on the Island in October, so will soon be starting househunting in the Ryde area. I'm hoping that it'll be easy enough to find a rental property for myself and my two dogs.
Another question as I get ready to move, can anyone recommend any vets? Which ones have a 24hr emergency service? Hope that the doglets won't ever need to latter, but always pays to know where one is.

Hi, We too are looking for a rental for ourselves and our three kids. It seems imposible though to find a house that would take a well trained German Shepard and fear l may have to rehome her which will break our hearts . Has anyone any idea's as there must be something out there we can rent until our house sells here.

It's not easy is it and I sincerely hope you don't have to rehome your German Shepherd. I'm in a flat at the moment which isn't ideal and as my tenancy is due to end soon I'm househunting again. I've no idea what they're like to deal with as a company, but Deacons Lettings in Ryde seem to have a few places that will allow dogs. You should find it easier than me only having the one dog, but unfortunately many landlords seem to be opposed to big dogs thinking they'll be noisier / more destructive. The irony there, my lab and lurcher tend to sleep in the day when I'm out and certainly aren't destructive. Next door's jack russell can yap for England Rolling Eyes

Hi Carrie, Thanks for that Wink l will deffo take alook at Deacons Letting in Ryde ( fingers crossed you never know ) Good luck for yourself, you will have to let us know how you get on. If you can do it with 2 dogs then that will give us some hope as it brings tears to my eyes just thinking about letting her go as they become part of the family don't they. My Venus is so good and hubby works from home but like you say Land lords are affraid of damage and noise, l can deffo say no damage but she does bark at the door if people knock Rolling Eyes
We are looking at Ryde to live work and stuff also like Ryde school as they specialize in Language so looks perfect.

Thanks again
Lisa x

sorry cant help with regard to rental property but riverway are great, caring vets and have helped and reassured us with our cats(chubby and stella),surgery in lake and newport-thoroughly reccommend them for all doggys needs if it came to it im sure something could be sorted out-my wifes family have adopted several dogs in the past and would ask around if things got desperate, although we cant rehome as our cats would kill a german shepherd(choking hazard)-but seriously if your stuck let us know and we will try to help as best we can

Really Mushroom, I was told they were expensive vets. I registered my two with Medina and within two days of them getting down here had to take one of them to the vets after she got a chemical burn on her paw. The vet she saw was very nice.
Good point about other options, if worst came to the worst maybe you could look at finding someone who would foster your dog for a few months.
