I wonder if the closing down of Brading Waxworks will lead to more closures of other island businesses?
In the present poor economic climate and the prospects for improvement uncertain to say the least, the prediction seems to be that there will be many more casualties this winter.

The Countryman pub has gone and there will be more I expect.
Ventnor Golf Club is a goner too, or soon will be.
Waltzing Waters is a one off experience, but seems to hang in there.
I heard that The Heights is on a hit list of council sites.
Mind you it is only kept going by "senior" swimmers.

I thought they had a plan to foist wind turbines on Ventnor which would ensure their survival.
Or do you know something that we don't?

@ George,
I do know that the Manager has managed (excuse the pun, for it could not be further from the truth as can be seen from the dire finances of said club) to annoy and irritate most of those who make the decisions.
He first of all stated that the Leader of the Council and his Deputy were "supporters", which they have categorically denied.
Then stated in a letter to the Guardian that the application has been in the pipeline for nearly a year. Again untrue. At the time it was 16 weeks.
Last week he launched an astonishing attack on the Minister, Ed Miliband and further suggested that the planners disregard the law and decide his application without an EIA. The man is a fool in my opinion.
If any business is unable to survive these uneasy times, it is a shame, but it is not the duty of the planners to bail out a failing sports club and, in particular, its manager.
Do you see the owners of Brading Waxworks or The Countryman applying to erect 3 wind turbines in order that they can survive by availing themselves of the huge subsidies given to the operators?
