Hi all
after years of visiting and saying we would like to live there me,my wife and daughter have decided to move to the island,my main worry is finding a good school for my daughter who is 10 so will be looking to relocate to somewhere near a good middle and senior school so i am looking for some help.
i had read that Shalfleet is good ? anyone got any thoughts

The Island is getting to the verge of deciding on adopting a 2 tier system for schools rather than the three tier system it has had for more years than I know about.
This will mean the closure of some, amalgamation of others and the building of new.
It'll pay you to look at what and when this is all going to materialise by checking out http://iwight.com our Council's website.

Being a small Island a lot of kids commute further to school than their parents do for work, so you don't necessarily have to live right on top of a school for your child to attend it, as most are serviced by the school bus service.
I believe all our schools are great, but because the results are set against national averages in percentage format, we look bad because we have smaller schools than average and so the numbers aren't fairly represented.
I also believe they could be even better if the Government was to back off and let the teachers teach and not pressurise them into what has become a competition for the best results.
