Compared to towns on the Mainland, outside Cowes Week the Island doesn't have regular buskers, not, that is until now.

Tuesday at Newport's Market was the Tea & Biscuit Boys 4th busking outing.
our mixture of Blues and Rockabilly music are played on a biscuit tin guitar and tea chest bass, although this week we did have Clatterford Slim playing a real guitar with us.

Saturday, weather permitting we will be outside Pound Land in Newport.

So if you're in Newport Saturday do as Elmore James' song says and Shake Your Money Maker over our hat.

Maybe there's a reason for that, ie. most people go to the shops to erm...Shop! Don't get me wrong, Buskers and street entertainers have their place but you really need a bit of space around you in case you draw a crowd, but outside Poundland?...not sure ....did you do well?? I'll stick to computer repair, web design & SEO www.westislandcomputers.co.uk very hard to be a busking drummer! Very Happy

We've made about £20 each for a couple of hours playing each time we've been out. We only go out twice a week so the day job's safe.

It's just a bit of fun and we get a lot of positive feedback. We're a novelty that hasn't been around Newport much since we did it back in the early to mid 90's. Back then we were a three piece, guitar, double bass and drum, now we're mainly biscuit tin and tea chest, with the occasional appearance of Clatterford Slim's guitar.

We've also through busking picked up a couple of private party gigs, so there's another few quid and all from recycled junk.

Saw you busking at both Riverside at the car rally and outside Poundland and thought you were fantastic. Will come and say hello if I see you again.

Thanks a lot.

We're just trying to brighten people's days and bring entertainment to the streets.

Although tomorrow looks like it could be a wash out.

Having played Newport for the past 4 or 5 Saturdays, weather permitting, we may well be venturing to Ryde High Street this week.

So have your loose change ready Very Happy

Last Saturday we lost our usual pitch outside Pound Land in Newport to an animal charity, so we set up outside HMV instead.

This photo was kindly sent to us by a passer by named Phil.

We get snapped quite a bit while playing and don't get much of a chance to get the person to send us a copy.
So if you should have some photo's of us taking up room on your camera, before you delete them can you please contact me either here or through http://wightportal.com

If you're in Cowes High Street tomorrow, you may well see the Tea & Biscuit Boys having a bit of a wail.

Why don't you start a facebook page and ask people to post pictures they have taken of you, or a flickr group perhaps? A couple of videos on youtube would be a hoot too.

There's two short videos on Youtube already. Just put Tea & Biscuit Boys in Google to find them.

Tomorrow is also the first road test of the new tea chest as the original fell apart.

I'd like to thank Sue from the Pier View in Cowes for the free beer last Saturday, and the guys and gal's who were dodging the traffic to dance in the street, who also furnished us with beer.

If you're in Newport tomorrow from midday, we'll be caterwauling in St. Thomas' Square as part of the Green Exhibition that's taking place there.
