if its so bad be glad you dont live here pie

what island do you live on? i presume as all you seem to pick on are the bad points.

whats with caulkheads?

although i will say there seems to have been an awful lot of vandalism to vehicles and house burglary recently. most probably down to the same people.

infact every week theres something about multiple cars damaged or few houses burgled..... kind of worrying, especially as the police here never seem to get results,

People, if you're concerned about the miniscule amount of crime that the Island has I suggest you move to a small island in the outer hebrides.

hello sparkle

I don't live on an island, unless you consider Gloucester an island of civilisation in a county of inbred bigotry

I agree with you, what is with Caulkheads??

If IOW is trying to portray a psotive image when the world's eyes fall upon it for the Island Games 2011, would it not be a good idea for them to stop vandalising cars and stealing cycles??

Now I see why you're worried about your bike.

How much crime you got?

http://www.thisisgloucestershire.co.uk/news/Police-bring-security-aid-homes-street/article-3010402-detail/article.html

Ahh, so you're upset because of this as well

Get a lot of this do you?

Naughty Naughty

Now I've never been to Gloucester and if I was to believe the above to be a good representation of the place I would never go. So don't try doing it to us.

I think you misunderstand. I'm not sayng Gloucester is better than IOW, as I have mentioned there are parts that are more backward than anywhere in the country - racism, heavy metal music and cousin-marrying are rife. But there it'simple, I keep my bike in the hallway.

Then I went on to compare IOW with better islands, many of which are much more tourist friendly and safe.

So now you're saying that a little bit of car vandalism and petty street crime has turned the Island into an unsafe place, compared to the other Islands you mentioned.

I gave you a link to official Island crime statistics, now show me the comparisons with the Islands you mention are better.

And remember crime is relevant to population.
For example the Isle of Wight has a population of roughly 130 to 150,000, where as the Isle of Man only has 76,512. Number of people between 15 and 74 here 93393, Isle of man 50,486.

The policing needs of the two Islands are therefore different

I for one, am glad I moved to the IOW from France. Just wish they'd spend some money on the roads. It's got lots to do apart from mountains to climb. I admit it could take a bit more pride in itself, ie: litter, some buildings could do with a lick of paint...... But on the whole an ok island!

It makes me angry when 'grokels'/'oveners' moan about the Isle of Wight,it is different and always will be,hopefully. But,if these types keep coming here and wanting to cover everything in concrete there will be nothing left of what the island was/is known for, country views. So as islanders have always said,'if you don't like it,you know where the boats are use them'.
Just remember that so called progress don't mean improvement. So there that's my view so stick it in your pipe and smoke it, as the saying goes, and if you don't smoke ,hard luck!

Oh i forgot i can't even smoke now when i want to,now with these cuts i won't be able to have a pee when i want to. I was born on this lovely island and enjoyed nearly 70 years on it but i have seen too many changes, most of the not to the betterment.
