tomtomnav - you will find, contrary to what a lot of people say, that the "islanders" are really a very friendly bunch of people and extremely helpful!
I moved here 7 years ago to live with my OH and I do really love the place (although at times it can be a pain getting on and off it!).
Do hope your plans come to fruition and that you do manage to get a job and a place to live here. I'm sure you won't regret it. |

The only benefit that will come out of these exchanges is yours and anyone else's who stumbles upon them and gleams some information they need.
Information Superhighway, that's all it's about information being shared.
There's nothing drastic here on the Island, unless you come from a large city then you might feel as though you've come to a complete standstill being here. |

| I know it seems stupid of me, but like I said I just don't feel I can trust people to do nice stuff. It doesn't happen much to me. And I'm from Wales so I'm used to countryside and I like it (but don't tell anyone I said that lol) |

Actually if I was your age now and living in Wales, I'd go and volunteer at the Centre For Alternative Technology and learn all I could there.
Sounds daft perhaps, but once you know what you're doing you could find a farmer who will let you rent a few acres for a weekend and sell courses in whatever takes your fancy.
There was a 2 day course on straw bale building here a while back and tickets were £150 each. These sort of things sale out all the time and is how the CAT make their money.
Checkout their site:

| Yeah I looked at CAT (been to visit a few times) but I really do love what I saw of the IoW and I want to start living alone. Independence, freedom and washing up, that kind of stuff... |

| My last post was an old git doing some belated planning and thinking of the future which he didn't do the first time round. |
